Darcy’s Response to Salacious Email

Late Saturday Night, like clockwork, 7 days from our state party elections, someone without a name and without the courage to identify themselves sent an email to the SCC with a list of mostly untrue statements and misleading information about me.

While this spineless and gutless person who sent the email probably knows these statements are lies, he or she doesn’t care. Their only goal is to make you question me, the person you know who has been showing you who she is and standing for Coloradans for years now.

That’s all they have.

Like President Trump, the radical Left has been doing this to me for as long as I can remember. It neither hurts me nor does it hurt my work or my efforts. Because just like President Trump, these lies and smear tactics only embolden me and make me more resolute in my principles.

Notice my opponents cannot say anything about my hard work or policy understanding. They can’t. My record speaks for itself; I am a staunch Republican woman who has raised two beautiful young children whilst fighting for our state and country. They know they can’t beat me, so they lie and denigrate my character.

Am I perfect? No. In the words of my good friend Joe Oltmann, “show me someone with clean hands, and I will show you someone who has done nothing.”

First, I want to put to bed these ridiculous rumors of me being a “felon” or anything of the sort.

In 2013, I was at an Indiana gas station, where I called the police for help after I was robbed. Unfortunately, the police officer informed me I had an outstanding warrant for theft out of Tennessee - an absolutely shocking revelation. At the time, I was eight months pregnant, robbed of my belongings in another state, and being told I’m going to jail.

I was taken into the nearby Jasper, Indiana jail, where I learned a business deal years ago (a roof my construction company assembled) had not been completed by one of my teams based in Chattanooga. I immediately rectified the situation, compensated the woman on her incomplete roof, and the charges were immediately dismissed. As you may have seen the “infamous” mugshot floating around of me, this is the so-called “salacious” criminal they are laughably attempting to make me out to be…a pregnant lady who didn’t even know a job had not been completed.

Well, unfortunately for them, the truth trumps their fiction.

It was a horrible experience, one which left me with a profound understanding of the criminal justice system that I carry with me to this day. I successfully sued my employee for wrongdoing against my company, and he was required to pay back what I was forced to cover.

In 2019, in what I can best describe as a politically-motivated vendetta, I was arrested for criminal mischief, charges that were created because of an ongoing lawsuit I had against the town of Palmer Lake. The town had recently posted numerous documents that violated my privacy, which were submitted in order to receive a liquor license for my restaurant in town.

The Town of Palmer Lake had published my background check document, my social security number, fingerprints, bank accounts, and other personal information online on the town website for almost a month. In an attempt to hold those accountable who committed wrongdoing, I was hurt for doing the right thing. Even the mayor of the town, whom I consider a close, personal friend, was present and deeply offended when the officer was quoted as saying “I have wanted to get her for years.”

The only way they could “get me” to stop talking about the corruption in town was to try to hurt me.

It didn’t work. The charges were of course dropped. And to this day, I am STILL speaking out loudly about the corruption in town.

My ex and I are good friends now and have a deep understanding and drive to always expose the evil that abounds in our area governments. It’s so sad, but we are making things better each day.

People are starting to truly understand how illegally Monument and Palmer Lake really operate. And because of this, lives are being ruined in the process.

Another topic you may have seen floating around is about leaked documents from the Town of Monument during my time serving as a town trustee. I’m going to be very frank here, and you’re going to learn some very shocking things about one particular man, who has actually been highlighted prominently as an endorser of one of my opponents…Mayor Mitch LaKind.

The investigation conducted by attorney Grant Van Der Jagt into the town of Monument revealed misappropriation of funds, illegal electioneering, sexual harassment, and cronyism.

In 2022, I leaked that investigation into the Town of Monument, which included Mitch LaKind and Mayor Pro Tem Steve King. Every shred of evidence that had been discovered was being hidden by LaKind, as he worked to thwart the results of the investigation from seeing the light of day. Those misdeeds by Mitch LaKind were discovered by a third party investigator during an investigation.

I leaked it so the public would know who their mayor REALLY WAS, and I’ve stated before – I would do it again. Leaking information about government corruption in Monument and harassment by the Mayor was 100-percent necessary, and I’m proud of my actions, and I stand by them. I never waiver in my principles and quest for justice. I have attached the investigation that I “leaked” as well as the contact information for the attorney who investigated the corruption taking place in Monument.

It has been claimed in this salacious email that I was removed as trustee. This is flat-out FALSE. Anyone with any shred of political knowledge would know that’s not possible; only the voters can issue a recall. They did not do so. This, unfortunately, can be the reality of “small town” politics. The “good ole’ boys club” doesn’t like to be disturbed. I will continue disturbing them in order to reveal the truth and bring justice to the voters.

Lastly, I want to address one of the crazier rumors of them all – that I, the only non-appointed employee (contractor) of the Colorado Republican Party, owes the state party thousands of dollars. The truth is more alarming than the rumors …

With President Trump’s victory secured, everyone and anyone wanted to be in Washington DC for the 47th President of the United States walking back into the White House once again. For that momentous event, I presented a plan to state party leadership along the lines of many other states: let’s host a Colorado-specific inauguration event for Colorado Republicans to come together and celebrate the historic occasion. With our party’s challenges around unity, what a perfect time to come together for the ascendance of our next Republican president.

What started as a modest 50-person gathering quickly ballooned to over 300 attendees — a testament to the excitement and soon-to-be unity among Colorado Republicans celebrating President Trump’s historic victory.

The state party allocated $1,200 for this event, and as I began planning and marketing it. It quickly grew and the attention around it swelled, to include from our state’s elected officials. It was then deemed necessary to bring on a security team. With more attendees came higher costs, reaching over $6,000. Many of these charges (security, rooms, food, drinks) were incorrectly routed to the state party’s credit card. To date, I have already paid for those charges ($2,300).

Since that time, I’ve paid over half of the bill myself. I even committed to covering the remaining amount — meaning I will have personally paid over $4,000 in total for Coloradans to enjoy drinks and dinner in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, someone’s campaign decided to turn this highly-successful event into a political attack.

That’s a shame—and a reflection of the very behavior that’s holding our party back—behavior I have worked tirelessly to correct and change.

Now that I have addressed these salacious stories and opened up my life, I believe you will stand for me, and with me, as I have for you all these years. I am not perfect, but I stand before you today with an open heart and open arms, asking you to trust me as your next leader.

I have learned a lot from my past mistakes and it has shaped me into the leader I am today. I am a passionate fighter which is why I know I won’t let you down. Just ask my children; I don’t know how to do that. I will not allow our opposition to break us down and I will always fight to protect your conservative way of life. I have taken Trump’s infamous words and will apply them every day as your next Chair. Together we will fight, fight, fight. .

Thank you, Colorado Republicans.
